RIIWHS204D Work safely at heights

The course Working at Heights, is a nationally recognised unit of competency; it describes skills and knowledge required to work safety at heights in the resources and infrastructure industries. This unit of competency is appropriate for those working in operational roles where they are required to perform work at heights. 

Introduction

RIIWHS204D Work safely at heights, covers working safely at heights in the resources and infrastructure industries.  It is relevant to those working in operational roles at worksites within:
- civil construction
- coal mining
- drilling
- extractive industries
- metalliferous mining

All workers working at heights are required to complete this unit of competency in order to be compliant with legislation and regulations requiring fall protection training. 


COURSE CONTENT

This course will explain the requirements designed to prevent falls and the required protective devices and practices, risk assessment techniques for working safely at heights, the correct use of ladders, fall injury prevention systems and suspension trauma awareness.
You will learn to:
• identify work requirements
• identify work procedures and instructions for the task
• access and install equipment
• perform work at heights; and
• clean up the work area.


COURSE DELIVERY and DURATION 

This one-day course is offered at both our Welshpool and Bunbury Training Centres. The course can also be delivered, by prior arrangement, at clients’ workplaces. The theory component is available through E-learning with WA Skills Training. The practical component must be completed with a qualified trainer/assessor.
*Students who may require additional support are encouraged to inform WA Skills Training staff before commencing the course.


CERTIFICATION

On successful completion of the practical and theory assessments, a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS204D Work safely at heights, will be issued.
